Marilia has practised as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, as a counsellor and as a therapeutic coach for nearly two decades. She qualified from the University of Sussex after gaining a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in the late 1990s.
Prior to becoming a mental health professional her background was in languages. She now combines her linguistic and psychotherapeutic skills and provides therapy in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
Psychodynamic theory underpins Marilia’s work. This approach helps clients understand their problems by increasing their awareness of how past relationships and unconscious processes influence present issues.
Marilia also offers integrative therapy (short-term), therapeutic coaching (solution-focused) as well as House Therapy services helping individuals organise their home and work spaces by identifying reasons which lead them to accumulate unnecessary possessions (clutter, hoarding).
