What is an Introduction to Photography?

If you’re just starting out in photography or looking to get to grips with more than the auto functions on your camera, then our Introduction to Photography is the workshop for you.

Photography is an artistic and creative past-time and is a great way for you to escape from the stresses of the day. As an added bonus it also engages your brain!

Join local professional photographer David Charles Mason for this three part fun and friendly workshop.

David’s philosophy is simple - no matter what the camera is, the fundamentals of photography are universal. Once you have mastered the basics, you can apply them to whatever area of photography that you want to explore. David will impart simple techniques to improve your photography and increase your confidence in using your camera, through a mixture of hands-on lectures and live demonstrations.

Part 1

This class will cover a broad range of topics related to basic photography principles. It will outline common camera features and their use and include a mixture of theory and practical demonstrations.  Part 1 runs across into two separate sessions, run on two separate days.  For those new to photography, it is recommended that the Part 1 class is attended first.

Part 2 and 3

Following on from Part 1, you will explore more advanced camera functions, such as histograms and exposure compensation. You will be encouraged and supported as you apply your learning to your own camera.
