David’s Book Launch- Volya Voices of Bexhill

Hello everyone, I have some exciting news that I would like to share with you concerning a project I have been working on with the Ukranian Volya Voices of Bexhill.

What’s been going on

for about the last eight months, I have been working with the Volya Voices Choir of Bexhill. It is a group of Ukrainian ladies who formed the choir to raise funds to send First aid supplies direct back to the front line. Tourniquets and compression bandages mean the difference between a fatality, and surviving long enough to be taken to a hospital.

They are an inspirational group of women and it’s been an absolute privilege to work with them.

The culmination of the project is an exhibition of the ladies portraits, ‘Volya Voices of Bexhill’ which will run from the 1st to the 5th March* in the roof top foyer of the De La Warr Pavilion. This is combined with a book launch to raise funds for choir.

(*It will be closed to public on the 2nd March)

Book Launch

The choirs portraits and stories have been captured for posterity in a book accompanying the exhibition which will be launched on the 1st March.

A big thank you to the Deerfold Trust who kindly provided a grant to fund all of the prints and graphic displays for the exhibition.

Fifty books have been donated to the choir by myself and Christine, and this has been matched with a donation of fifty books by Rother Voluntary Action/ Bexhill Hub to support Ukraine.

The books will be sold through the De La Warr Pavilion at £14.00 each. All proceeds will go to support the choir. The target is simple: raise £1,400 to buy more first aid supplies.

It would be great to see you on the 1st March and if you can, please consider buying a book. If the De La Warr Pavilion sell out, (there will only be 100 book available for this event) the book will be available online at the Great British Bookshop.

I must say I have been bowled over by the generosity and financial contributions that I have received from all parties concerned to make this launch happen. Thank you everyone.

Best Regards

David.
