Homeopathy
What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine used by over 200 million people worldwide to treat both acute and chronic conditions. It is based on a series of ideas developed in the 1790s by a German doctor called Samuel Hahnemann. Using the ‘like cures like’ principle, a substance is taken in small amounts to cure the same symptoms it causes if taken in large amounts.
How does Homeopathy work?
During your appointment with a Homeopath, they will ask about your symptoms and discover more about your lifestyle, medical history and state of mind before prescribing the appropriate homeopathic medicine.
Homeopathic medicines, known as remedies, are made from small amounts of natural substances such as plants and minerals. These ingredients are designed to stimulate the body's healing ability. They are prepared (or potentised) using a process called succussion, where the remedy is repeatedly diluted and shaken.
Remedies are usually taken as a tablet but are also available as liquids, powder or creams.
